Ever since she was a young age, Pratima knew she wanted to be an engineer. During her first programming class, she fell in love with engineering and began on her career path. She earned a Masters in Chemistry, Masters in Computer Science (University of Texas at Arlington), and Bachelors in Instrumentation Engineering (BITs Pilani India). After a few years working in the software industry as an engineer, Pratima made the decision to move into engineering management. Leadership and management came naturally for her. Currently, in her field of enterprise software, she is Engineering Leader at VMware and manages a team of engineers.

During her time in the tech industry, she experienced of the gender bias and related imposter’s syndrome which makes it challenging for women—including herself—to advance their careers. From this insight, Nevertheless, She Persisted was conceived. It is Gluckman’s hope that her book contributes meaningful and lasting changes in the tech world so that many more global women can advance their careers as engineers and become effective leaders in their organizations.
