As a child of a poor working-class family growing up in impoverished East Los Angeles, California. I experienced first-hand how attitude, culture, conflict and communication held people back; caused enormous sorrow and anguish in their personal and professional life. Add to that my personal pain of watching a close family member have nervous breakdowns.
